Come to speak up and speak out, or just to listen and support poetry performances in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and YWCA Week Without Violence.
Washburn University students, staff, faculty, administration and the greater Topeka community are welcome to join the YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment in conjunction with Washburn University professor and author Dennis Etzel, Jr. and professor Dr. Jericho Hockett on Thursday, October 20, from 1:30-2:30 PM in the Washburn University Union Underground. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
This event will provide a safe space for our community to speak-up and speak-out against relationship violence and sexual assault or to share words of encouragement, empowerment and support for survivors of violence.
If you are not in the space to share, please feel free to come and listen to the words of others. Counseling and advocacy services will be available. All members of the Washburn and Topeka communities are welcome.
Week Without Violence at YWCA Northeast Kansas is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas and Evergy.
